Advisory on Heat Wave

May 26, 2024

Dear Parents,
Greetings from GD Goenka, Srinagar
In the context of the Advisory issued by the government on the prevailing Heat wave conditions, parents are advised to adhere to the following:

  1. Ensure that your ward takes a bath in the morning , before coming to school, in order to feel refreshed.
  2. It is recommended that parents pack light lunches, ideally consisting of fruits and snacks. Food that spoils easily, such as cooked meals, rice, or foods that become stale quickly, should be avoided.
  3. Make sure that your ward carries enough water or other liquids to school, in order to stay hydrated.
  4. Your ward should be made aware of the importance of proper hydration to combat the heat wave and advised to drink sufficient water at regular intervals.
  5. Ensure that they put on sunscreen to shield them from the sun’s damaging rays.
  6. Those that are coming to school on foot/bicycle should be advised to ensure that their heads are covered. Parents are encouraged to personally collect their wards whenever feasible, in order to avoid public transport and minimise their time out in the sun.
  7. It is advisable to let your wards stay at home if they are not feeling well. Even in the unlikely event that your ward has an examination, there is no need to send them to school. Additionally, early dismissals and half days are not allowed; therefore, it is preferable that your ward gets the necessary rest at home in such cases.
Since your wards’ health and safety are our top priorities, it is crucial that we adhere to these recommendations.
    With Warm Regards
    Principal
